Have you ever been on a road trip with your kids only to promise to yourself that you would not even think of embarking on such a journey ever again! Well, I have. And let me tell you that it was not a very pleasant experience. While we did have a lot of fun once we reached our holiday destination, the long road journey itself was tough (don’t want to start ranting and raving as I’m not sure I will be able to stop). If only childrens talking books were available at that time, the road trip would have been so much easier to bear.
It was not too long ago that I came across talking books for children, alternately also known as audio books for kids. The name itself is quite self explanatory. Yes you are right. These are audio versions of famous kids stories that can be heard either on the internet itself or even on your mp3 players. Apart from kids stories, you also get different types of kid’s books in the audio format. The books differ in many regards such as the length of the book, the content of the book, and whether or not they are available as free downloads in mp3 format.
Like I’ve already mentioned, talking books for children have a lot of great benefits. First and foremost, kids who are not very good at reading can make use of these audio books and do not have to go without ‘reading’ their favorite kids stories. You might make the argument that talking books would discourage kids to read physical books. After all, if you could simply hear good stories by hitting a play button, why would you take the time and effort to actually read? Although that may be a valid thought, it is not a correct one. It has been seen that childrens talking books actually encourage the activity of reading in kids rather than discourage it. This is because kids start to develop a liking for the things that they hear and are more inclined to pick up a book for additional content and information.
You see, not each and every kid’s book is available in the audio format. Thus, if kids want to read a particular book that has not yet been made into talking books for children, then they have no choice but to read the printed book.
Thus, to help your child develop a liking for words and kids stories, do provide them with some simple childrens talking books. Believe me when I say this, your next train journey, road trip, or even a family vacation will be so much more relaxing if your child is busy with his/her talking books for children!
